Kell High School - Marietta, GA•Graphic Communications & Design Teacher
Within the first six months of my first year as the Graphic Communications and Design teacher at Kell High School, I was approached by the Principal (Dr. Peter Giles) to help the school create a new brand identity for the school. Given the rich history of the school, at the time of its establishment in 2002, was the only school with a Longhorn mascot in the state of Georgia. No other high school in Georgia uses these colors knowing that, having the opportunity to create new content, I was intrigued to help bring a spin on the look of what the school was trying to portray.
Part of the creative problem the school had was their previous primary logo that oddly resembled the University of Texas that immediately needed to be changed. Being that the front of the school was so iconic in design, it was used to be the face for the scholastic logo of the school being that it was the first thing that students and faculty would see whenever they would begin a school day.
In the same way that the rebrand was happening with the primary longhorn and the scholastic logo, I was tasked with developing the athletic logo to mirror the brand image already created by the scholastic logo. The base design of the crest would be interchangeable with any and every sport that the school has to offer. With the many options available, the school would not have to be limited to just one design color that was prominent from the initial logo.
